A real Word document from Markdown
Writers who draft in Markdown often need to hand over a .docx (to an editor, a client, a journal or a university). This converter builds a genuine Office Open XML document in your browser, mapping Markdown to proper Word structures rather than just pasting text:
| Markdown | In Word |
|---|---|
# to ###### |
Heading 1–6 styles (they appear in the navigation pane and table of contents) |
**bold**, *italic*, ~~strike~~ |
real character formatting |
| links | clickable hyperlinks |
| bullet and numbered lists | Word lists with nesting; numbered lists restart correctly |
| tables | Word tables with borders and a bold header row |
> quote |
Quote style |
code blocks and inline code |
monospaced Code Block style |
--- |
horizontal rule |
Because headings use Word’s built-in styles, you can restyle the whole document in one step in Word, and insert an automatic table of contents.
Open a .md file or paste your text, check the preview, and click Download .docx. The file opens in Microsoft Word, LibreOffice, Google Docs and Apple Pages.
