From web page to Markdown
Moving content from a website, CMS or rich-text editor into a docs site, wiki, README or note app? Paste the HTML and get tidy Markdown that keeps the structure:
- headings (as
#or underlined), paragraphs, bold and italic; - links and images with their URLs and alt text;
- bullet and numbered lists, including nested lists;
- tables (converted to GitHub-flavoured Markdown tables);
- blockquotes, inline code and code blocks (fenced or indented);
- strikethrough.
Scripts, styles and <noscript> content are dropped.
The conversion uses Turndown, a mature open-source HTML-to-Markdown library, with its GitHub-flavoured Markdown plugin, running in your browser.
Getting the HTML
In most browsers, select content on a page, copy it, and paste into a rich-text editor’s HTML view, or use View Source for a whole page. Then paste here. To get plain text instead, use HTML to Text.
