Clean HTML from Markdown

Paste Markdown and get HTML ready for a CMS, an email template or a static page. The converter uses marked, a widely used, standards-focused Markdown parser, with GitHub-flavoured Markdown on by default:

Markdown HTML
# Heading <h1>Heading</h1>
**bold**, *italic* <strong>, <em>
[text](url) <a href="url">text</a>
- item <ul><li>item</li></ul>
~~gone~~ (GFM) <del>gone</del>
tables, task lists (GFM) <table>, checkboxes

Line breaks become <br> treats single line breaks as hard breaks, the way comments on GitHub and many chat apps behave. Leave it off for standard Markdown, where a single line break joins lines into one paragraph.

Security note

Markdown allows raw HTML, and the converter passes it through unchanged. If you’re converting Markdown from untrusted users for display on a website, sanitise the output on your server.

Worked example

Here is what the Markdown to HTML Converter returns for its built-in example. Settings used: GitHub-flavoured: on; Line breaks become <br>: off. Click Try an example in the tool above to load it, then change it as you like.
